Lomatium – Anti-Viral & Anti-Bacterial
A customer visited our store last week and asked me if I could help her locate an herb. In my head I answered, “Duh, what do you think they hired me for?” (Sorry, the end of a long day), but, actually said, “Yes, of course.”
She wanted the herbal extract that helps ward off the flu. So, I started naming herbs that it might be; echinacea, astragalus, goldenseal. She stopped me to tell me it started with an “L” and she gives this herb to her family because she doesn’t give her kids the flu shot. I couldn’t think of the herb she wanted until she said that she would call her sister when she got back to Idaho so her sister could then come in to buy it. Idaho rang a bell for me and I told her it must be Lomatium. Bingo!
Lomatium grows abundantly in the North West. During the flu breakout in Northern Nevada in 1918, medical doctors were surprised that local Native Americans recovered from this epidemic. When asked what they used they showed them the lomatium herb, their most potent herbal antibiotic.
I had forgotten about the power of lomatium and was so glad she decided to visit our store that day.
Use lomatium for respiratory infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, staph infections, and strep infections.
Lomatium: anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral.
Oh, and I liked, no, loved hearing that she didn’t give her family the flu shot. I don’t believe in the flu shot either. But, that’s another story.
